WPD 2015-Walkathon

As part of its awareness and advocacy efforts on population issues, Jansankhya Shtirata Kosh (JSK) organised a series of advocacy events on the occasion of World Population Day, July 11, 2015. The events were organised to create requisite awareness about the issues of population and to rededicate the nation towards the population stabilisation. These included two key events: a Walkathon towards Population Stabilization and “National Workshop ” organised by JSK in collaboration with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). For the necessary build up, a half page english and hindi advertisement was published on 10th of July, for inviting the people to be part of Walk on Population Stabilisation on July 11th, 2015 from India gate to Vijay Chowk. On this occasion Shri J P Nadda, Hon'ble Minister for Health & Family Welfare AND Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, MoS (MoHFW) was also present at the function.
Thousands of students from various schools and colleges of Delhi participated in the Walkathon to endorse their support for the cause of population stabilisation. The Walkathon was an effort to build momentum and raise awareness around issues like empowering adolescent and youth especially focussing on girls, low female literacy, early age at marriage, early child bearing, prevent substance abuse and lead a healthy Life style, among a host of other challenges to be dealt with to address the issue of population stabilisation.
Students carrying placards with slogans supporting the cause of population stabilisation joined in to advocate for the cause.
