As part of its awareness and advocacy efforts on population issues, Jansankhya Shtirata Kosh (JSK) organised a series of advocacy events on the occasion of World Population Day, July 11, 2011.

1.  The World Population Day’ event at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi

Jansankhya Sthirata Kosh observed ‘The World Population Day’ event at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 11th July 2011 by organizing a workshop on ‘Youth for Population Stabilisation’ in collaboration with Nehru Yuvak Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The workshop sensitized about 800 National Youth Corps Volunteers of NYKS volunteers from high focus States on population issues
Hon’ble Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Ajay Maken and Dr. Syeda Hameed, Member, Planning Commission were the Chief Guests at the workshop. Besides the Chief Guests, Shri K. Chandramouli, Secretary Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, (MoHFW), Ms. Sindhushree Khullar, Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri P.K.Pradhan, Special Secretary & Mission Director (NRHM), Shri Rakesh Mohan, Director General, NYKS and Ms. Dharitri Panda, Executive Director, JSK shared the dais to interact with the youth participants over a variety of issues related to population stabilisation.

2.  Multi Disciplinary Competitions on the theme of Population Stabilisation

Multi Disciplinary Competitions on the theme of Population Stabilisation in collaboration with NYKS were organised at 96 Blocks, 21 Districts in 07 high focus States of Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.These are:

  • On the Spot Essay Writing Competition
  • Public Declamation Contest
  • Quiz Competition
  • Population Stabilization Hurdle Race: 200 Meter
  • On the spot Painting Competition

3. Advocacy through SPIC-MACAY 2011

JSK has collaborated with Spic Macay, a renowned national NGO, in Bihar in September 2011 for Rural Intensive project. This program was organized at Narendrapur Village of Siwan district of Bihar. Out of 38 Districts of Bihar, 32 Districts had participated. Approximately, 350 Students from various Schools have been participated in the Rural School Intensive Project. The Executive Director, JSK, District Civil Surgeon and other State Government officials addressed the students on the issues related to population stabilization and on ways and means in which the students could assert their efforts for Population Stabilization.

4.  Indian International Trade Fair (IITF) 2011

JSK participated in India International Trade Fair (IITF), 2011 at Health Pavilion and set up a stall on the theme of population stabilization. JSK had organised many activities like online quiz (www.jskquiz.com) on issues related to population stabilization for awareness. Approximately 1400 participants played quiz at the Stall. For the first time face to face counselling services of two qualified doctors (male and female) from Maulana Azad Medical College were utilised for providing free counselling on reproductive health and family planning issues to the visitors. 242 male and 147 female visited these doctors for counselling. JSK took this opportunity for promoting National Helpline Number 1800-11-6555 (toll free) through distribution of key rings and pocket calendars to the visitors.

  • JSK’s 22 minutes long Film‘KAMI KI KEEMAT’ was telecast on Sahara Samay Aalami, Sahara Samay Bihar, Sahara Samay UP and Sahara Samay national
  • 22 minutes long film ‘HAR JAAN MAAYNE RAKHTI HAI ’ was telecast on Sahara Samay MP between 6th July to 31st July, 2011.
  • A Panel Discussion on 6th July 2011 on the topic ‘Role of Community Participation in Population Stabilization’ was conducted on Sahara News Network.

  • JSK’s 22 minutes long film ‘KAMI KI KEEMAT’ was telecast on Live India on 10th and 11th of July.
  • A Panel Discussion on Live India recorded and aired panel discussions of 24 minutes duration on the topic ‘Population Transition and the Path Ahead’.

  ETV News Network )

  • JSK’s 22 minutes long Film‘KAMI KI KEEMAT’ was telecast on ETV UP, ETV MP and ETV Oriya.
  • 22 minutes long film ‘HAR JAAN MAAYNE RAKHTI HAI ’was telecast on ETV Urdu and ETV Bihar on 11th July from 6 Pm to 7 Pm.
