The "Jansankhya Sthirata Kosh"
(JSK) (National Population Stabilization
Fund) has undertaken a unique exercise
with the help of National Informatics
Centre to create maps which show
the existence of health facilities
district wise. These maps are an amalgamation
of GIS maps and Census data which
give a picture of each district, its
sub-divisions and the location of
Primary Health Centres, Sub Centres,
prominent towns and urban areas. Separately
for each district there is an excel
sheet which gives the distance of
each village** in each taluka (Sub-District)
from the Primary Health Center. The
population of every village has been
given according to Census data, using
the Census Code. (The village names
are therefore not in alphabetic order).
For
North Eastern States and Himachal Pradesh:
Village boundaries provided by Survey of
India (SOI) have not been verified.
Therefore, Taluka boundaries have
not been displayed in some maps. Arunachal
Pradesh and Manipur data is not available
and hence omitted.

(**Only
those villages where distance from the PHC
was collected by census 2001 are displayed
in JSK’s exercise. There are many villages
in the States which have been excluded where
the distance from the PHC was not available
with census.)
Map Button:
Please select the state and the
corresponding district from the given lists
and press "Map". Taluka names are according
to 2001 Census.
Distance Button: To
view the distance of each village from the
Primary Health Centre minimize the map and
press excel button. It will show villages in three columns i.e.

(Background in Yellow Colour)
5-10 Kms
(Background in Brown Colour)
More than 10 Kms (Background in Red Colour)
Rank
Button:
Jansankhya Sthirata Kosh has prepared bar
charts for each district displaying:
i)
Percentage of Women Having 3 and
More Children
ii)
Contraceptive Prevalence Rate
iii)
Under 5 Mortality Rate
iv)
3 or More Antenatal Care Visits
v)
Overall Rank of the District in the
Country
The information is based on a study “Ranking
and Mapping of Districts” done by Prof.
F. Ram and Dr. Chander Shekhar of
International Institute for Population
Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai. JSK has projected
this information in visual form to sensitize
all stakeholders and motivate them to take
up innovative projects which could make a
positive difference.
